After pressure from fans, owner of popular ram ‘Seven Star Sultan’ says it won’t be sacrificed

The popular ram has quite a fan following.

BAGALKOT: Owing to pressure from fans, the owner of the popular ram ‘Seven Star Sultan’, which has won several ram fights, has decided not to sacrifice the animal for the upcoming Bakrid festival.

The owner Younis (centre) said he will not sacrifice the ram after pressure from fans.

Younis Gaded, a resident of Sutagundar village in Bagalkot taluk, had bought the ram two-and-half years ago for Rs 1,88,500. The ram had won a fight just recently and has so far clinched the first place in 34 competitions, winning prizes worth Rs 20 lakh in cash, gold, silver and motorcycles.

The ram has won 34 competitions so far.

Younis had decided to sacrifice the ram this year for Bakrid, but following immense pressure from fans, he has now given up the idea. “Seven Star Sultan has a huge fan following and we didn’t want to hurt their feelings”, he said.
