KOPPAL: A week after the gangrape of an Israeli tourist and a homestay operator, the police have gotten into the act and have begun checking vehicles for documents. Apart from this, the police have also set up a checkpost at Sanapura which is working 24 hours to check vehicles.

Meanwhile, ongoing investigation into the gangrape case has revealed that the three accused were using a two-wheeler which had no registration plates or documents. On the day of the incident too, they were using the vehicle with no number plates.

Prior to the gangrape, the accused Mallesh, Chetan Sai Sillekyatar and Shanabasava had filled petrol in the two-wheeler belonging to Sharanabasava at Sai Nagar and later purchased alcohol. After the gangrape, they left the two-wheeler at Sharanabasava’s house and fled.

The trio had been using the same vehicle for many months and it is surprising how they managed to escape checks by the police.
