CAHNDIGARH, MANGALURU: The death of aerospace engineer, Akanksha S Nair, at a Punjab college has taken a new twist. Akanksha, who worked with SpiceJet Aerospace in Delhi, allegedly took her own life due to a failed relationship.
Akanksha, who hailed from Dharmasthala, was preparing to go to Germany for further training and had visited Lovely Professional University in Paghwara, Punjab, to collect some academic documents. She then jumped from the fourth floor of the college building and died.
Akanksha’s parents initially accused the college authorities of being responsible for her death, claiming that she wouldn’t have taken her own life. However, the truth has now come to light.
Akanksha was in a relationship with a professor, Bijil Mathew, who is a father of two children and hails from Kottayam in Kerala. When Mathew refused to marry her, Akanksha got into an argument with him and later jumped from the fourth floor of the college building.
A case has been registered against Mathew at the Jalandhar police station in Punjab for abetting Akanksha’s suicide. The post-mortem was conducted today and the body handed over to the parents. Akanksha’s funeral will be held at her home in Dharmasthala’s Boliyuru later in the evening.
