BENGALURU: The countdown to the Aero India 2025 show has begun. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh landed at the HAL airport when he arrived in Bengaluru on Sunday. This year, the Ministry of Defence has taken steps to address traffic congestion and other issues.
The Aero India air show always brings with it a mix of excitement and apprehension for Bengalureans. The show causes traffic congestion, making it difficult for people to reach the airport and the show venue.
To address this issue, the Ministry of Defence has made arrangements for parking inside the Gandhi Krishi Vigyana Kendra (GKVK) campus. The parking area can accommodate 5,000 vehicles at a time in 15 acres of the land, so that those who visit the air show do not pose a problem for the public. The parking area has been marked and prepared to ensure that vehicles are parked in an organized manner. Additionally, free BMTC buses will be provided to take people from the parking area to the show venue. The Ministry of Defence has tied up with BMTC to provide 180 special buses to ferry people from the parking area to the show venue.
To prevent a repeat of the 2019 fire accident that damaged over 300 cars, additional fire safety measures have been put in place at the parking area. Local residents have expressed satisfaction with the new plan, which aims to address the issues faced during previous air shows.
