BENGALURU: Actor-politician Ramya has condemned ‘Challenging Star’ Darshan over his alleged involvement in Renukaswamy’s brutal murder.
Speaking to the media, Ramya slammed Darshan and said, “Nobody is above the law and they can’t take the law into their own hands against trolls. Darshan should have approached the police”.
“As an actor in a responsible position, he should do good to society. Is it right to kill a person using fans? If we defend something such an incident, what is the message we would give to society? No one is greater than the law. I believed that the police will conduct an impartial investigation”, Ramya said, condemning Darshan’s act.
Further, she said, “We have a ‘Block’ option on social media. If someone resorts to trolling, block them first. I have myself lodged complaints against some people who have trolled me earlier. I later withdrew the complaint after the police warned them. Darshan may have used political influence in many cases in the past. But political influence cannot be exerted at this stage. He also campaigned for some candidates in the last election. But no one is above the law. He shouldn’t get carried aay seeing some people in support of him outside the police station”.
“This sort of development is dangerous and has attracted people’s attention. But there are actors who have more fans than Darshan. I saw the video. He hit the victim’s head with a rod. Many more videos are coming out now. How is it possible to do all this?” she questioned.
“I believe that the police were investigating the case as per law. He should be responsible as an actor, should do good to society through charity or any other noble ways. Kidnapping and assault by fan clubs are serious issues. People are watching everything. Some may defend this, but most people have condemned it. I am not saying that the film industry should condemn this. They have their own thoughts based on Darshan’s background. If we do not condemn such developments, what message will we send to society”, Ramya asked.
