BENGALURU: With the number of Covid-19 cases rising in the state, Bengaluru has recorded over 150 active cases with Mahadevapura and the East zone accounting for the majority. This comes amid cases of dengue which are on the rise.

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBM) has ramped up testing for ILI/SARI symptoms in Mahadevapura, South and East zones with the rise in Covid-19 cases. With the rainy season, the BBMP health department is also making efforts to tackle the spread of dengue.

The total active Covid-19 cases in the state is 234 with most of it in Bengaluru. Sources said there are about 20,000 cases of people with respiratory ailments in all the eight zones who have other comorbidities. The BBMP is closely monitoring them, the sources said. While Mahadevapura and East zone have 30 cases each, the number is also rising in the South zone, they added.

The BBMP is also taking steps to control the spread of dengue and has issued certain guidelines. People with ILI/SARI symptoms have been advised to get tested and to consult medical experts in case of ill health rather than self medication.

Those with respiratory issues should follow Covid protocols in gatherings and use masks and hand sanitisers. Those suffering from other health issues have also been advised to seek medical attention.
