BENGALURU: Assistant Commissioner of Police Chandan Kumar has been appointed to lead the investigation into the call detail records (CDRs) case of Aishwarya Gowda, who is in jail in a fraud case. She had introduced herself as Congress leader D K Suresh’s sister.
The investigation will focus on how Aishwarya Gowda obtained the CDRs and used them. In the preliminary investigation, it has been revealed that Aishwarya Gowda collected the CDRs of several political leaders of Ramanagara.
The CDRs were allegedly obtained illegally, and Aishwarya Gowda had used them for illegal purposes. The police are investigating how she managed to obtain the CDRs and who helped her. The case has raised suspicions about Aishwarya Gowda’s connections with politicians and police officials.
For this, she has also used some police officers to conduct financial transactions with them. Only the investigating officer in any case has the authority to obtain the CDRs. Hence, it’s intriguing how Aishwarya Gowda obtained the CDRs of political leaders.
The police are suspicious about how and for what purpose she used them. For this reason, a separate investigation has been ordered. The probe into the case of illegally obtaining a CDR has been entrusted to ACP Chandan Kumar of the Vijayanagar sub-division by Deputy CP S Girish of the West Division. Since the ACP of the Byatarayanapura sub-division is the complainant, the responsibility of the investigation has fallen on Chandan’s shoulders.
The police are investigating whether any officials were involved in helping her obtain the CDRs. ACP Chandan had investigated actor Darshan and his associates in connection with the murder of Renukaswamy in Chitradurga.
