BENGALURU: A man was attacked with acid by an unidentified person near Vrishabhavathi Nagar in Kamakshipalya police limits in broad daylight on Sunday afternoon. The victim Nagesh Konda has since been admitted to the Victoria Hospital for treatment of burn injuries on his face.
Nagesh works as a fitter with a private company in Bengaluru. In his complaint to the police, he stated that since it was a holiday on Sunday, he had gone to a bar in Sumanahalli where he consumed alcohol and had lunch. When he was returning home around 2 pm, he received a call from his acquaintance and even as he was talking on the phone, an unidentified person approached him from behind and threw acid on his face and ran away.
With a burning sensation, Nagesh informed his roommate Avinash, who immediately called up their manager Pankaj who arrived at Nagesh’s residence and shifted him to a hospital. Since he had sustained burns, Nagesh was shifted in an ambulance to Victoria Hospital where he is undergoing treatment.
The Kamakshipalya police visited the spot and have registered a case. A discarded plastic bottle in which the acid was stored was recovered from the spot. The police are now on the lookout for the accused.
