YADGIR: A 25-year-old woman, who had been suffering from mental illness for many days, committed suicide at Kongandi village in Wadagera taluk on Wednesday. She leaves behind her 10-month-old child.
The deceased has been identified as Soundarya Mathapati (25), a housewife, hailing from Kongandi village. The family said that Soundarya committed suicide when no one was home.
She was fit and healthy for six months after delivery. But, after returning to her husband’s house, she always seemed to be upset and would say that she was not feeling alright.
She had left behind her 10-month-old child at her parental home and lived with her husband and her father-in-law in Kongandi village, but was not as normal as other days, family members said.
The police said that she was suffering from depression, but the exact cause of suicide is yet to be ascertained. A case has been registered in this regard at Wadagera police station.
