Boy dies in stray dog attack, girl’s condition critical

RAICHUR: Stray dogs menace have increased in the district, posing a danger to people, especially children and the aged. In separate cases, stray dogs attacked a boy and a girl in different parts of the district.

A six-year-old boy was killed by a stray dog in Kasaba Lingasugur village, Lingasugur taluk on Saturday evening when he had gone outside the house.

A group of stray dogs mauled the boy Siddappa to death when he went to defecate in the open. The boy’s parents immediately took him to a local hospital and later shifted him to a private hospital in Bagalkot for further treatment. However, the boy succumbed to severe injuries.

In another incident, nine-year-old Chaitra was attacked by a stray dog in Marchetala village in Raichur taluk. The girl was playing outside her house, when the dog suddenly attacked her, biting her in the head, ear and leg. She has been admitted to the RIMS hospital in Raichur and is undergoing treatment.

People have expressed concern over the growing menace of stray dogs in the district and vented their anger at the civic authorities for not taking adequate steps to control the stray dog population.
