BJP activist stabbed to death by hotel employees over trivial reason

YADGIR: A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) activist, who intervened to defuse a fight between his friends and a hotel owner, was stabbed to death with a knife by some hotel employees over a trivial reason in Yadgir town on Monday night.

The deceased has been identified as Srinivas. He had been to the Royal Garden hotel with his friends for to have dinner and his family was out of town when the incident occurred.

Srinivas’ friends and the hotel owner got into an argument over moving a car parked in front of the hotel. Srinivas was about to return home after finishing his dinner when he intervened to defuse their fight. In the meantime, Mohammad Anas, who works at the hotel, and four to five others suddenly stabbed Srinivas in the stomach with a knife. He died on the spot.

Srinivas collapsed on the ground after he was stabbed in the abdomen.

Srinivas was running an eatery in front of his house near Gandhi Circle in Yadgir for a livelihood. His wife and two children had gone to their hometown for the summer vacation, so he had gone to another hotel for dinner.

Following his death, activists of the BJP and pro-Hindu organisations staged a protest and demanded the death sentence for the accused. They also demanded compensation for the family members of the deceased.

Sources said that BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel, K S Eshwarappa and others will visit family members of the deceased. A case has already been registered at the Yadagir Town police station and six accused have been arrested.
