BENGALURU: Forest officials raided a house at Basavanapura in Bengaluru South taluk and seized venison, wild boar and porcupine meat. They also arrested two men, Satyaprakash and Venkatesh, for allegedly hunting and selling wild animal meat in the Hanur forest area.
The raid was conducted by the Bannerghatta Forest Division officials based on a tip-off. Another accused, John Peter from Hommadevanahalli, is absconding.
The accused were selling the meat at high prices in and around Bannerghatta. A case has been registered under the Forest Act, 1972 and the Wildlife Protection Act, including for forest encroachment, illegal hunting and sale of wild animals.
The accused were selling deer and wild boar illegally and hunting wild animals in Hanur forest. Forest officials are on the lookout for John Peter, who is on the run.
