BENGALURU: With the government finding itself in a spot of bother with the BPL (below poverty line) card mess, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has reportedly instructed the minister and officials concerned to ensure no disruption in the Gruha Lakshmi scheme benefits.
Under the Gruha Lakshmi scheme, the woman head of a poor family gets Rs 2,000 allowance per month. The CM is keen that none of the government schemes and programmes aimed at women see any disruption, sources said.
The CM has instructed officials that the criteria for the Gruha Lakshmi scheme should not be changed and it should continue as before. There have been cases where some women have complained that they have not been getting the scheme benefits regularly and CM Siddaramaiah is keen that the scheme is unaffected.
As far as the BPL card issue is concerned, the Chief Minister has taken a decision that all the BPL cards must be restored except for government employees and income tax payers. With the confusion it has already created, the CM does not want the image of the government to be impacted negatively, the sources said.
