BENGALURU: After the Babusabpalya collapse of a six-storey under-construction building, BBMP officials have been instructed by the Deputy CM D K Shivakumar to survey all unauthorised constructions in the city.

The authorities will take up the survey from Monday, focusing on illegal buildings, dilapidated (old) structures, and new constructions. This move aims to identify and demolish hazardous and unauthorised buildings.

The government has swung into action after the recent building collapse in Babusapalya, which left the city’s residents in panic. The Deputy CM orders have not only alarmed citizens but also owners and contractors of unauthorised buildings.
Earlier,  illegal constructions were identified through drone surveys including unauthorised floors. Now, officials will conduct physical surveys and submit reports within a week. Once the reports are assessed, demolition of such structures will begin.

Deputy CM DK Shivakumar has directed officials to prioritize this task, ensuring timely action against dangerous and illegal constructions, aiming to prevent future tragedies.
