Fight breaks out between two Dasara elephants for second time

MADIKERI: A fight broke out for the second time between Mysuru Dasara elephants Dhananjaya and Kanjan at a Dubare forest elephant camp in Madikeri on Wednesday. The two elephants had clashed earlier at the Mysuru Palace camp during Dasara, creating panic among the public.

In the latest incident, the two elephants clashed inside the camp, leaving Kanjan injured in the leg.The clash occurred when Dhananjaya faced off with Kanjan when entering the camp. Dananjay, already in anger, suddenly attacked Kanjan with its trunk and tusk as they were being led into the camp. Kanjan was injured in the fight.

Mahouts and staff struggled to control Dhananjaya, and eventually they managed to calm it down by tying it near the Cauvery river. The incident occurred when there were hundreds of tourists at the camp, creating panic among them for a while. Forest Department officials have confirmed the incident and are investigating.
