Two killed after being knocked down by unidentified vehicle near Hubballi bypass road

The two-wheeler was hit by an unknown vehicle.

HUBBALLI: Two people riding on a scooter were killed and their bodies crushed after an unidentified vehicle knocked them down near the Pune-Bengaluru highway bypass road close to the Dharavathi Hanuman temple at Gokul village early on Tuesday.

The deceased were identified as Gopalkrishna, a software engineer hailing from Mangaluru and his friend Sadanand who hailed from Hubballi.

Gopalkrishna had parked his car at the Idgah Maidan and had been on a tour of Maharashtra in another car with family members. He returned early on Tuesday morning, got off near the bypass and called his friend Sadanand to give him a lift to the Idgah Maidan.

In the meantime, an unidentified vehicle knocked down their two-wheeler, killing them on the spot. The North traffic police visited the spot and registered a case. The police are trying to identify the killer vehicle based on CCTV footage.
