RAMANAGAR: A leopard died after coming in contact with a live electric fence that was installed by a farmer to protect his crop from wild animals. The incident occurred at Maralagondal village in Magadi taluk.

The farmer, Umesh, had installed the electric fence to protect his sweet potato crop from wild animals. However, on Sunday, a four-year-old leopard came into contact with the live electric fence and died.

Fearing legal action, the farmer buried the leopard in his farmland. Later, he surrendered to the police. Forest officials visited the spot, retrieved the leopard’s carcass and conducted a post-mortem. A court has sent Umesh to judicial custody.
