Police on alert after prime witness in Darshan case receives threat

BENGALURU: The police are on alert after the prime witness in the Renukaswamy murder received threats. Following the threat to witnesses, police have enhanced protection and securing the evidence while instilling courage among the witnesses.

The investigators are preparing to record statements from prime eight more key witnesses under Section 164. The police have already recorded statements from 11 witnesses in the presence of a judge. Along with this, the police have plans to record statements of 19 people in the Renukaswamy murder case under Section 164.

For this, the police have maintained high level of confidentiality about information including the name, address, and identities of the witnesses. They have also filed Non-Cognizable Report (NCR) in respect of the threats taken up investigation.
