5-year-old boy, young woman die due to dengue in Karnataka

GADAG, HASSAN: Gadag district recorded its first victim to dengue with a five-year-old boy succumbing without responding to treatment. The deceased Chirayu Hosmani was a resident of Shirurnja village in Gadag taluk.

He was admitted to Gadag Institute of Medical Sciences Hospital (GIMS) for treatment, but was later shifted to SDM Hospital in Dharwad as he had been suffering from a severe fever for the past week. He succumbed at the hospital today due to complications from the disease.

In Hassan district, a young woman died of suspected dengue. Supreeta (26) was a was a resident of Mududi Tandya in Arasikere taluk and died at a private hospital in Hassan.

Supreeta was the daughter of Julunayaka and Sumitradevi. Four days ago, Supreeta was admitted to the district hospital for treatment due to high fever.

Supreeta suffered multiple organ failure while undergoing treatment. Her parents then shifted her to a private hospital in Hassan due to her serious health condition. But she did not respond to treatment.

With this, the number of suspected dengue deaths in Hassan district has risen to seven. Three of these children have been confirmed to have died of dengue.
