RAICHUR: At least 29 students of the Morarji Desai Residential School at Rajalabanda in Manvi taluk fell ill after consuming excessively chlorinated water. They were immediately taken to a hospital on Friday night.
The students consumed water which is supplied from the overhead water tank and the same water is used for cooking food. After dinner on Friday, the students complained of vomiting and were rushed to the Manvi taluk hospital.
It is said that excessive bleaching powder was used for cleaning the water tank. The taluk health officer and a team of doctors visited the residential school and conducted an inspection. There are a total of 250 students in the school and the health of the other students was also screened.
