The couple have been accused of brutally torturing the woman's child from an earlier marriage.

BENGALURU: A woman and her third husband have been accused of brutally torturing her three-year-old child from a previous marriage by inflicting burns all over the body. The child also has a broken leg and is currently undergoing treatment at the Bowring and Lady Curzon hospital in the city.

The child has burn marks all over the body.

Zareena and her third husband Azmath allegedly tortured the girl child by burning her face, neck and head and limbs with cigarettes. The child also has a broken bone in one of the legs.

Zareena, who hails from Gouribidanur, has three girl children from her previous marriages and she has also been accused of forcing her eldest daughter to have physical relationship with her current husband. Azmath also allegedly would assault Zareena’s sister and sexually harass her.

Child rights commission chairman Naganna Gowda on Friday visited the Bowring hospital and inquired about the condition of the three-year-old child. Later, speaking to media persons, he said, “The child has been so brutally assaulted that the skin is almost peeling off. There are burn marks from cigarettes all over the body. A bone in one of the legs is broken and the child is undernourished. I have asked the doctors to provide proper treatment to the child and also informed the Home minister. The parents are likely to be arrested soon”.
