BENGALURU: The Bengaluru city police have taken the Youth Congress leader Mohammed Haris Nalapad into custody for trying to show a mug (chombu) to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Bengaluru on Saturday.

Some Congress leaders, including Nalapad, tried to show a pot (chombu) to PM Modi near Mehkri Circle and attempted to stage a protest. At this time, the police detained two Congress leaders, including Nalapad.
Nalapad got into an argument with the police and expressed his anger that it was his right to display the ‘chombu’ to PM Modi.
Nalapad had come half an hour early and was waiting in a car at Mehkri Circle road where PM Modi was to pass. There were eight people, along with Nalapad, in a black Land Rover Defender car.
The police stopped the Congress leaders as soon as they got information that they were going to display the chombu at Modi while he was on his way.
