KOLAR: A 17-year-old boy was brutally tortured, slashed with sharp objects and left to die bleeding by a group of six youngsters at Pete Chamanahalli Extension here on Friday evening. A video of the boy, identified as Karthik Singh, lying in a pool of blood and writhing in pain has since gone viral on social media.
According to police sources, Dilip alias Shine and his accomplices summoned Karthik from his house, took him to the government school premises where they took off his shirt, tortured him badly and murdered him. Karthik died due to severe bleeding from the cuts he had sustained. The police have launched a hunt for the group who are now missing.
About eight months ago too, the group of youths had tortured Karthik, taken off his clothes and beaten him up, allegedly for not attending a birthday celebration. Police suspect that the murder may have been due to old rivalry.
It is suspected that there were six others with Dilip when they murdered Karthik. Dilip is the son of one Police Murugan and was previously named as an accused in a murder case.
