BENGALURU: Ten years after a bomb blast near the BJP office in Malleswaram, a trial court sentenced the two accused to seven years imprisonment and imposed a penalty of Rs 50, 000 each. The order issued by the CCH 50 Justice C M Gangadhar.
The investigation officer Venkatesh Prasanna had arrested the convicts John Nasir and Danial Prakash in Tamil Nadu. The duo were accused of having links with the terrorist organisation Al-Ummah.
Ten years ago, a low intensity bomb exploded on the morning of April 17, 2013 about 100 metres away from the state headquarters of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Malleswaram.
At least 17 people, including 12 police personnel, were injured in the incident. The explosion ripped through the crowded area damaging two vans and a motorbike. The incident occurred on the last day for filing nominations for the Assembly election that year. Fortunately, none of them critically injured in the blast.
