BENGALURU: Former IPS officer and Karnataka vice-president of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday quit and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the presence of state president Nalin Kumar Kateel. Along with Rao, his supporters too joined the party.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhaskar Rao said, “After taking voluntary retirement, I wanted to bring change politically. But AAP is not growing in Karnataka due to their working style. From my childhood, I was drawn towards Sanatan Dharma and nationalism and BJP is the only party which stands with both. Hence, I joined the party”, he said.
“I did not want to waste my time in the AAP and I will work wherever my services are needed. The country should become stronger and that is possible only by the BJP and no other party. There is scope for growth in the party and, under the guidance of the senior leaders, I will carry out whatever work is assigned to me”, Rao added.
Speaking after inducting Bhaskar Rao into the party fold, Kateel said, “After voluntary retirement from police service, Bhaskar Rao got experience in politics during his stint in AAP. He has come to BJP because the development of the state is possible only with a double engine government. More are ready to join our party and based on their field of experience, we will induct them”.
