Man dies of heart attack after misfired bullet kills son’s friend in Shivamogga

Double barrel gun misfired while loading bullet.

SHIVAMOGGA:  A man who misfired into the air from his double barrel gun during a New Year party, died after he suffered a hear attack on coming to know that his friend’s son had died due to the bullet injuries. The incident occurred at Vidya Nagar here on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as Manjunath (50), owner of Gopal Glass House.

Manjunath had arranged a party at home to celebrate New Year with his family, friends and his son’s friends. As they counted down to midnight for the New Year’s Eve party, he accidentally misfired from the gun while loading bullets. But the bullet hit his son Sudeep’s friend Vinay (34), who was severely injured.

Vinay was immediately rushed to Max hospital, but he died on Sunday without responding to treatment. Vinay was a volleyball player from Hosanagar.  He played with the Jimmy Charge Volleyball Club for many years.

Following the incident, Manjunath was said to have died of severe cardiac arrest. The police have seized the gun and are investigating further.
