BENGALURU: Many autorickshaw drivers in the city are in despair as they have not received payment due to them from Ola Money.
The autorickshaw drivers have not got payments from Ola since last June. The drivers are to get thousands of rupees in dues, but the company has not released the money from OlaMoney wallet. Many drivers in the city are facing similar situations, and they feel helpless because the firm won’t acknowledge it even though they have complained about it numerous times.
Earlier, the Transport Department issued a notice to Ola aggregator for charging Rs 100 as minimum fare for autorickshaw rides and also for providing autorickshaw services without a proper licence.
The customer pays the money to the Ola company directly through their OlaMoney wallet. The company should repay the amount to the autorickshaw drivers after deducting its commission. However, money received through the OlaMoney wallet has not been paid to the drivers.
“The customer pays the money to the OlaMoney wallet and it directly goes to the company. The company is taking advantage of us and they do not respond to our complaints. When we call customer care, they suggest we go to the offices. But when we reach there, they say the service is only for cars but not for autorickshaw service providers. Many have faced similar situations,” said Chandru, an autorickshaw driver.
What is the OlaMoney Wallet?
OlaMoney is a cashless digital wallet. It is majorly used to make payments for Ola rides as well as to buy groceries, flight tickets and much more.
