CHIKKABALLAPUR: In a tragic incident, a woman died while trying to rescue her children who were drowning in the Murugamalla Lake in Chintamani taluk. The deceased is 24-year-old Tabussum Khan from Banashankari in Bengaluru.
The family had come to the Murugamalla dargah and were playing in the water near the lake. When the mother went to fetch clothes, the children went deeper into the lake and started drowning. Seeing this, the woman rushed towards the lake but, unable to swim, drowned.

Fortunately, the father and a relative who were nearby managed to rescue the children. The husband lamented that he could save the children, but not his wife.
In another incident, a woman died on the spot after being electrocuted while trying to open a toilet door. The incident occurred in Gundlahalli village, Chintamani taluk and The deceased is 43-year-old Ratnamma.

A live wire had snapped and fallen on the toilet door, electrifying it and giving the woman a shock. Her husband Srinivas, who was at home, tried to rescue her, but could not. A case has been registered at the Kencharlahalli police station in this regard.
