Police on lookout for 29 more accused for posting derogatory comments against Ramya

BENGALURU: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) police have resumed their search for 29 accused who are still at large in connection with the case of obscene comments made against actress Ramya on social media.

Earlier, the CCB police had arrested 14 of the 43 accused and filed a chargesheet against them. The remaining 29 accused, however, are still absconding, and the police had filed an absconding chargesheet against them.

The case dates back to July 2025, when Ramya filed a complaint against 43 social media accounts for making obscene comments and threats against her. The CCB police had taken up the investigation and formed six special teams to track down the accused. The teams conducted searches across Bengaluru, Mysuru, Haveri, and Chikkamagaluru, leading to the arrest of 14 accused.

 

The case has now reached the trial stage, and the ACJM court has directed the police to locate the missing accused. Acting on this order, the CCB has intensified its search operations to track down the remaining 29 individuals. The police are investigating whether the accused are fans of actor Darshan, who is connected to the original case.

The CCB has also identified 13 accounts involved in the abuse, and 11 more people have been identified for posting abusive content online.The CCB police have requested anyone with information about the whereabouts of the absconding accused to come forward and assist in the investigation.
