MANDYA: A clash between two groups of youngsters over a trivial issue ended in the death of one person, Yashwant @ Kajji (19) while two others, Darshan and Sachin, were seriously injured in Maddur town. The incident occurred near Patel saw mill in Maddur.
The dispute allegedly started over a cigarette and a heated argument escalated into a scuffle, resulting in Yashwant’s death and injuries to two others. The police have registered a case and launched a search for the accused.
Yashwant had recently celebrated his 19th birthday and was known to have associated with a local rowdy, Chinnu. He had been advised by the police to stay away from trouble and had moved to Bengaluru six months ago, but returned to Maddur recently. The police are investigating the incident, and SP Dr V J Shobha Rani visited the scene.
In another incident, a family feud over property turned violent at Natanhalli village in KR Pet talulk, with relatives attacking each other with deadly weapons, leaving three people seriously injured.
The victims, Somegowda, Vasanth and Nishanth, were allegedly attacked by Ugregowda, Venu, Nutan, Prakash, and Somesh over a dispute about allowing access to a ancestral land. The injured are receiving treatment at a private hospital in Mysuru. A case has been registered at K R Pet Rural police station.
