BENGALURU: Hotels in the city have raised prices of food items by Rs 5-10 due to commercial gas shortage and also the hike in commercial LPG cylinder prices. The Customers are unhappy but are paying the higher prices. “We have no choice but to accept the price hike”, said one customer.
Kadamba Hotel in Basaveshwara Nagar has increased prices by Rs 5 for all dishes including dosas, chapatis, idlis and others. The hotel staff says they’re forced to raise prices due to increased costs. “We’ve increased prices by Rs 5-10 per item. We’re struggling to manage with just one cylinder per week and rising electricity and water bills”.
Other hotels, like Davangere Benne Dosa and Hotel Sanman, have also raised prices. They’re using alternative cooking methods, like electric steamers and wood-fired stoves, to cope with the gas shortage.Hotel owners say they’re trying to stay afloat despite rising costs. “We’ve increased prices by 10-15 per cent. Customers are understanding, and we’re managing”, said Ramakrishna, owner of Hotel Sanman.
Even non-veg hotels like Basavegowda Military Hotel have raised prices due to the gas shortage and increased costs. They’re using firewood stoves to prepare biryani and other dishes.
