BENGALURU: In a bid to curb malpractices in Bengaluru’s Parappana Agrahara Central Jail, Director General of Police (DGP) Alok Kumar has directed officials to allocate barracks to inmates based on alphabetical order, rather than their influence or preference.

Earlier, powerful inmates, often involved in organised crimes, would allegedly book their preferred barracks and charge newcomers for a spot. To put an end to this, the DGP has instructed that all inmates be allocated barracks strictly based on their names in alphabetical order, regardless of their case or associates.

This move aims to reduce the influence of powerful inmates and promote a more orderly and fair system within the jail.
