BENGALURU: Confusion over the age limit for admission to Class 1 in Karnataka schools continues even after the state government reduced the age limit by two months to 5 years and 10 months.

The government’s decision has sparked confusion among parents and students, particularly those studying in CBSE and ICSE boards. The confusion revolves around whether the government’s order applies only to state board schools or also to central boards like CBSE and ICSE.

Parents are questioning the government’s decision and are opposing the two-month reduction. They are demanding a relaxation of 6-9 months, as was the case last year. A meeting was scheduled on Saturday to discuss the issue, and parents are urging the government to reconsider its decision.

Some of the key concerns include:

  • Will the 2-month reduction apply to CBSE and ICSE boards?
  • Will the central boards adopt the new rule?W
  • What happens to students who are already studying in these boards?
  • Will the government introduce a new law to implement the age limit uniformly?

The government has not clarified whether the two-month relaxation applies to CBSE and ICSE boards. These boards have already implemented the 6-year age limit rule for Class 1 admissions, and it’s unclear if they will adopt the new rule.

If the central boards don’t adopt the new rule, the state government may have to negotiate with them or introduce a law to implement the age limit uniformly. The issue remains unresolved, and parents are anxious about the implications and are eagerly awaiting clarification from the government.
