BENGALURU: The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has hiked water tariffs by 3 per cent effective April 1. This is the third tariff hike since the Siddaramaiah government took office.
The revision is in line with the tariff revision committee’s decision to increase rates annually. Residential users will see a 1 paise increase per litre, while commercial users will face a 1.9 paise hike.
Sanitary charges will also rise, with households with borewells paying Rs 30 extra and industries paying Rs 120 more. The BWSSB supplies water to 12 lakh households daily, and the revised rates will reflect in May bills.
