BAGALKOT: BJP leaders in Bagalkot have put aside their differences and shown unity ahead of the by-election. BJP candidate Veeranna Charantimath and MLC P H Pujar have ended their two-year feud after pressure from state and central BJP leaders.
The two had been at odds, engaging in verbal sparring and avoiding each other at public events. However, a meeting facilitated by BJP state president BY Vijayendra and Union minister Pralhad Joshi led to a reconciliation. The two leaders stood together, showing unity and solidarity on Monday.
Veeranna Charantimath filed his nomination papers, accompanied by BJP leaders, including Pralhad Joshi, Vijayendra and Jagadish Shettar. The event was marked by a show of strength, with a roadshow showcasing BJP’s power and unity.
Speaking to the media, Vijayendra said, “Everyone will work together. This election is not just about Veeranna Charantimath, but about the pride of our party workers. We will win this election with a huge margin, highlighting the misrule of the state government.”
The BJP is confident of a big win in Bagalkot, making it a prestige issue. The party has rallied behind Charantimath, who is expected to win the by-election. The roadshow started at Kanavi Veerabhadreshwara Temple and passed through Vallabhbhai Circle and MG Road, culminating at Basaveshwara Circle. BJP leaders addressed the gathering, showcasing their strength and unity.
Earlier, Charantimath visited the historic Muchakhandi Veerabhadreshwara Temple, offering prayers and seeking blessings for a successful campaign.
