BENGALURU: A couple have been arrested by Central Crime Branch (CCB) police for allegedly cheating hundreds of people by promising government jobs in courts. The duo, who had previously been arrested in 2024 for similar offences, posed as job consultants and collected lakhs of rupees from unsuspecting individuals.
The victims, mostly unemployed or working in private companies, were promised jobs in courts and were asked to pay between Rs 10 lakh to Rs 25 lakh. The couple, Jaison D’Souza and Lavina, allegedly forged court documents and signatures to deceive the victims.
The CCB police have recovered over Rs 25 crore from the couple and are investigating the extent of their scam. The couple had set up a network of agents to collect money from victims and had even created fake offer letters to gain their trust. The police have received complaints from over 500 victims and are urging others to come forward. The couple has been booked under various sections of the IPC and is currently in custody.
