BENGALURU: Animal welfare activists have lodged a complaint with the Hoskote police alleging cruelty by the staff of a private firm contracted for catching stray dogs. The staff were seen spinning dogs after catching them by by their hind legs before throwing them into a vehicle.
The agency, Spandana Animal Association, has a tender from the Bengaluru East Corporation to catch stray dogs in the area. Activists claim the staff are not following guidelines, which include catching dogs humanely and sterilising them.
The activists of Sahavartin Animal Welfare Association have complained to the police and also written to the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) Commissioner and the Chief Secretary of the government, seeking action against the staff and better treatment of stray dogs.
