BALLARI: A controversy over alleged encroachment of waqf board property led to Ballari city corporation Revenue Commissioner Nandish that he was being pushed to end his life while claiming that he was being targetted for no fault of his. He even said that he was prepared to resign if it was proved that he was at fault.
At a corporation council meeting on Monday, Nandish faced criticism from Rajya Sabha member Syed Naseer Hussain over the waqf property issue. A 10-acre plot on Guggar Hatti Road was allegedly transferred to a woman named Prabhavati without proper due process. The Wakf Board claims ownership of the property, which was previously used as a burial ground by the Muslim community.
The incident has led to allegations of corruption and favoritism, with Naseer Hussain accusing officials of collusion. The police have registered a case against six individuals, and the district administration has ordered the cancellation of the disputed property transfer.
At Monday’s council meeting, Naseer Hussain publicly reprimanded Commissioner Nandish, questioning his role in the issue. Nandish responded emotionally, stating that he was being unfairly targeted and even threatened to resign if found guilty.
