BENGALURU: Following a series of accidents, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has installed steel barricades at high-traffic metro stations, including MG Road and Indiranagar.
The move aims to prevent accidents and ensure passenger safety. Earlier, steel barricades were installed at the Majestic Metro station and now the focus is on other busy stations.
The BMRCL plans to extend the installation of steel barricades to more Metro stations in the coming days, prioritising areas with high footfall. This initiative is part of the BMRCL’s efforts to enhance safety measures and minimise risks at metro stations.
Metro Fare Hike Likely Soon as Audit Concludes
The BMRCL has completed its audit, paving the way for a possible fare hike. The audit, which considered factors like operational costs, staff salaries, and energy expenses, will form the basis for the new fare structure.
According to sources, the fare hike could be within the 5 per cent range, but it’s also possible that it could exceed this limit. The BMRCL has submitted the audit report to Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, and a decision on the fare hike is expected soon.
Earlier, a 5 per cent fare hike was put on hold temporarily, but with the audit complete, a new fare structure is likely to be announced soon.
