Woman steals gold jewellery from employer’s house to repay boyfriend’s debt, arrested

BENGALURU: A 35-year-old woman was arrested by the Hennur police for allegedly stealing gold jewellery from her employer’s house to repay her boyfriend’s debts.

Pramila, a domestic worker, had been working at the house for three months and had access to the family’s valuables. She had been in a relationship with Sudhakar when they were working at a garment factory earlier. Sudhakar had asked her for Rs 20,000 during the Sankranti festival.

Pramila had separated from her husband while Sudhakar is married and has children. The police investigation revealed that Pramila had stolen the jewellery and sold it to a jewellery shop in Bommanahalli. She had given the money to Sudhakar, who had promised to marry her.

The police recovered Rs 3.4 lakh worth of gold jewellery from Pramila, who confessed to the crime during interrogation. The police are on the lookout for Sudhakar, who is still at large.
