Robbers posing as cops strike at businessman’s house in Byadarahalli, make away with Rs 20 lakh cash, jewellery

BENGALURU: A brazen robbery took place in in broad daylight at Bharat Nagar in Byadarahalli, where two robbers, disguised as police officers, entered the home of businessman Hombale Gowda, and made off with cash and gold jewellery on Monday afternoon.

The thieves, posing as a sub-inspector and a crime police constable, gained entry to the house by telling the couple that they needed to check the CCTV cameras. Once inside, they tied up the couple and, using a knife, forced them to reveal where their valuables were kept.

The thieves made away with Rs 20 lakh in cash and half kg of gold jewellery. The thieves, who introduced themselves as a sub-inspector and police constable, were offered chairs and water by the couple. While the wife was fetching water, the thieves attacked Hombale Gowda, taped his mouth, and threatened him with a knife to reveal the location of their valuables.

The thieves then tied up the wife and made off with the cash and gold, which had been kept at home after selling a plot of land. The entire robbery was carried out in just 20 minutes, with the thieves entering the house around 3 pm.

The couple has filed a complaint with the police, who are now investigating the incident and reviewing the CCTV footage to track down the thieves. The police have formed two separate teams to track down the thieves.
