BENGALURU: The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) is taking strict action against property owners who have defaulted on their property taxes. Despite receiving multiple notices, many property owners have failed to pay the taxes, prompting the GBA to auction such assets.

The GBA has identified properties that are in arrears and will be auctioned to recover the outstanding tax amount. The Bengaluru South City Corporation has fixed dates for the auction, with properties from five GBA divisions up for sale. The Jayanagar zone of the South City Corporation will auction 98 properties on February 22, with the corporation owed Rs 1.55 crore in taxes. The auction will include residential, commercial, and vacant properties.

The GBA has warned property owners who haven’t paid their taxes to do so immediately to avoid having their assets seized and auctioned. The authority is taking this step to recover the outstanding tax amount and has urged property owners to take advantage of the opportunity to pay their taxes and avoid the auction. The GBA has also emphasised that paying property taxes is a civic responsibility and that defaulters will face consequences.
