BENGALURU: A shocking incident of theft has occurred within the premises of the Vidhana Soudha building in the office of Urban Development Minister Byrathi Suresh. A large amount of cash and gold jewellery worth lakhs were stolen from the minister’s office.
A person, identified as Naveen, had visited the minister’s office for some work. He reportedly left behind a bag containing gold 300 gm of jewellery and Rs 1.5 lakh cash, which was later found missing. When Naveen returned the next day, he realised that the bag was gone and rushed to the Vidhana Soudha police station to lodge a complaint.

The police reviewed CCTV footage and it was revealed that a Group-D employee, identified as Anthony, had stolen the bag. The accused has been arrested, and further investigation is under way.
The incident has raised serious concerns about the security lapses within the Legislative Assembly building. Questions are being raised about how the individual was able to enter the premises with gold and cash without being detected, and why the security personnel failed to notice anything suspicious.
The theft has exposed the loopholes in the security system, including the ineffectiveness of metal detectors and the casual approach to security checks. The incident is being seen as a major security failure, and an inquiry is likely to be ordered to identify those responsible for the lapse.
