BENGALURU: The Karnataka government has admitted to the presence of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in the state, with Home Minister G Parameshwara revealing that there are over 370 such individuals, mostly in Bengaluru.
In response to queries raised by BJP MLCs Kishore Puttur, Keshav Prasad and Kushalappa, Parameshwara stated that the police have registered cases related to fake Aadhaar cards, which are allegedly being used by these immigrants.
According to government data, Bengaluru has the highest number of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants, with 284 individuals, followed by other districts. The police have also gathered information on 16 Pakistani nationals residing in the state illegally.
The confirmation comes after BJP leaders had earlier alleged that there were over two lakh illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in Karnataka, sparking a controversy.
