Actor Mayur Patel causes serial accident in drunken state

BENGALURU: Kannada actor Mayur Patel was involved in a serial accident on Old Airport Road, allegedly due to drunken driving. The incident occurred around 10 pm on Wednesday when Patel, driving a Toyota Fortuner SUV, collided with cars stopped at a traffic signal near Command Hospital.

The crash left four cars, including two Swift Dzire vehicles and a government car, damaged. Police conducted a breathalyzer test and found Patel positive for drunk driving.

A case has been registered against Patel under BNS Sections 281 (rash and negligent driving) and MVA 185 (drunk driving) at Halasuru traffic police station, based on a complaint by one of the affected car drivers, Srinivas. Patel’s Porsche has been seized, and further investigation is under way.

Meanwhile, Mayur Patel claimed that he would pay for vehicle owners for the damages caused. One of the affected cab drivers said five vehicles, including Mayur Patel’s, were involved in the accident. “One vehicle suffered minor damage and the vehicle left the scene”, he said.
