BENGALURU: In a major relief for Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) site allotment scam case, the Special Court for elected representatives has accepted the B-report filed by the Lokayukta police. This effectively clears Siddaramaiah and his family members of wrongdoing.
The Lokayukta police had investigated allegations of irregularities in the allotment of sites to Siddaramaiah’s family members and had filed a B report, indicating lack of evidence. The complainant, Snehamayi Krishna, had challenged the B report in court, arguing that the Lokayukta officials had suppressed facts to protect the CM and his family.
The court has accepted the B report and directed the Lokayukta to continue investigating other officials involved in the case. The decision is a significant relief for Siddaramaiah, his wife Parvathi, brother-in-law Mallikarjuna Swamy, and the original landowner Devaraj, who had been named accused in the case.
Following the verdict, Snehamayi Krishna announced plans to challenge the court’s decision in the High Court, saying he will continue her legal battle. “I presented sufficient evidence in court, but it still accepted the Lokayukta’s report. I wll review the order and decide on filing a petition in the High Court. I won’t let this case end here; it’s just a temporary setback, not a permanent one. I had also filed a contempt petition against the investigating officer, but that’s been dismissed too”.
Venkatesh Arabatti, lawyer for Lokayukta, said, “Snehamayi Krishna had filed a private complaint, and today there was a hearing in the Special Court for cases against elected representatives. The court was told that the investigation into the MUDA case was incomplete and that a proper investigation was needed. The court accepted the B report, citing lack of sufficient evidence. The complainant had also filed a contempt petition against the investigating officers, but that was dismissed today along with the acceptance of the B report”.
