SHIVAMOGGA: A major tragedy was averted when a sleeper coach bus caught fire near Arasalu near Hosanagara, in the wee hours on Wednesday. The bus had over 40 passengers on board and was travelling from Nittur to Bengaluru.
When the bus developed engine issues, the driver and cleaner acted quickly to alert passengers. The passengers were fast asleep, but the driver and cleaner managed to wake them up and evacuate the bus through the emergency doors and windows.
The bus had barely travelled 30 kilometers from its starting point, and the passengers were lucky to escape unharmed. The timely response of the driver and cleaner averted a major disaster, and authorities are urging people to take precautions while traveling by bus. The fire department and police arrived at the scene and took control of the situation.
The incident has raised concerns about the safety of sleeper coach buses, which have been involved in several accidents recently. Just a few days ago, a bus accident near Gorlathu village, Hiriyur, Chitradurga, claimed over six lives.
