BENGALURU: Drunk driving led to a fatal accident at Kammasandra in Hebbagodi, after a car crashed into a tree, killing 28-year-old Prashant and seriously injuring 27-year-old Roshan Hegde. After it was established that it was a deliberate act, Roshan Hegde was arrested

The incident, captured on the car’s dashcam, occurred around 9.30 pm on Sunday after a cricket match and a drinking party. An altercation between Prashant and Roshan escalated, with Roshan allegedly using abusive language, prompting him to drive recklessly.

The police have registered a case of murder based on a complaint from Prashant’s mother Anu. Roshan is being treated for injuries, and investigations are ongoing. The incident stemmed from a dispute during a cricket tournament, where Prashant’s team lost, leading to a heated argument between the two.

The police statement reveals that Roshan and Prashant, both acquaintances, were drinking together when the altercation turned violent. Roshan allegedly hit Prashant with a beer bottle, causing a tongue injury. As Roshan tried to flee, Prashant got into the car, and Roshan drove recklessly, crashing into a tree.

The CCTV footage shows Prashant trying to stop the car, but Roshan sped away, causing the fatal accident. Prashant’s friends accused Roshan of intentionally causing the accident, saying, “If the car had stopped, Prashant would have survived. He did it with the intention to kill”, they claimed

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Electronics City, Narayan, said, “The incident occurred around 8:30 pm in Hebbagodi on Sunday night. Prashant from Veerasandra and Roshan Hegde from KR Pura had gathered with four others for a drink. An altercation ensued between Prashant and Roshan Hegde during which Roshan Hegde hit Prashant with a beer bottle, cutting his tongue. As Roshan Hegde tried to flee, Prashant got into the car. Near Kammasandra, the car crashed into a tree and then into a wall, with Prashant inside. Locals informed the police, and upon examining the car’s dashcam, the case was uncovered. Roshan has been arrested”.
