Lone woman claims rape by bike-borne unidentified man near Devanahalli

The victim claimed that she was taken by a man on motorcycle when she was standing by the roadside.

CHIKKABALLAPUR: A 36-year-old woman, who had left her house after a quarrel with her mother was allegedly raped by a motorcycle-borne man when she was standing by the roadside at Vijayapura in Devanahalli taluk of Bengaluru Rural district on Friday night. The victim has claimed that she was also raped by a few other men.

The victim, a resident of Sidlaghatta, had left home and arrived in Vijayapura when she was accosted by a motorcycle-borne man who raped her. Some others too allegedly raped her and the victim came running towards to the road and screamed for help.

Police officers recorded the victim’s statement in hospital on Saturday.

A motorist came to the victim’s and she called her brother and informed him about what had happened. The motorist also dropped off the woman at Siddlaghatta and she was admitted to a government hospital.

Chikkaballapur SP Kushal Chowksey visted the victim in hospital following which the Vijayapura police also recorded her statement. However, her version had inconsistencies, police said, but added that nevertheless, they are on the lookout for the culprits.
