Case registered against Sriramulu for disclosing POCSO case victim’s identity

BALLARI: A case has been registered against former minister and BJP leader B Sriramulu for revealing the identity of a POCSO case victim during a party rally in Ballari.

On January 17, Sriramulu mentioned the victim’s name, address, class and school while speaking at the rally, violating the POCSO Act. The incident occurred when Sriramulu alleged that Ballari has become a hub for ganja and drugs, and claimed a schoolgirl was raped under the influence of drugs.

The police have taken suo moto cognizance and registered a case under the POCSO Act. The case was filed at the Ballari women’s police station, and it marks a significant development in the case.
